About

Into Wright’s Taliesin: Stories of Life, Design, and the Growth of Apprentices

This special lecture features Floyd Hamblen, a seasoned architect who entered the Taliesin Fellowship, the community personally founded by Frank Lloyd Wright, 38 years ago. Floyd is not only a participant in this legendary architectural fellowship but also a witness and a bearer of its legacy. As a young man driven by curiosity and passion for architecture, he arrived at Taliesin to live, learn, and create alongside the first generation of apprentices taught directly by Wright himself. There, design was not merely a craft — it was a way of daily life; architecture was not confined to drawings — it was a way of thinking lived out in space and action.

From the historic Hillside Home School to the everyday scenes of life at Taliesin, Floyd will guide us through nearly four decades of memories, revisiting an educational experiment…
